Experience

My academic background is at Monmouth University. I received a bachelor's in Communications, with an emphasis in PR and Journalism. My degree program also included a double minor in Gender Studies and Sociology. The coursework for Gender Studies and Sociology was my inspiration to find a career that would give me the opportunity to bring together my passion for writing and reading with my call to be in public service so that I can contribute to making a better society. That's what led me to return to college at Kean University in Union, N.J., and earn a degree in Secondary Education and English. I then received my teaching certification and have spent the last five years in classrooms from grades six to 12. I like to help students prepare for the Critical Writing and Reading portions of the SAT. My tutoring experience spans many subjects, but my passion lies with literature. There are few things more rewarding than knowing you played a role in helping a young person nurture an appreciation and love for reading.  Outside of the classroom, going to the beach is my favorite place to be. Reading, as you would expect, is a favorite pastime. I especially like sci fi, young adult, and dystopian novels.
